It is shown that the propagation of nonlinear ion‐acoustic waves in a collisional plasma is governed by the modified Korteweg‐de Vries‐Burgers or the Burgers equation. The stationary shock like solution of the KdV‐Burgers and Burgers equations is discussed for the medium in which the electron thermal conductivity is very large.
