Some properties of an analytic electrostatic model of relativistic electron beam propagation in vacuum, developed by Poukey and Rostoker [1], are evaluated. It is shown that the limits of validity of this model result from the mixing of electrons, from space charge singularities and the backflow of electrons to the cathode.
