A new configurable analogue block (CAB), the key element in the design of field programmable analogue arrays (FPAAs), is introduced in this paper. This CAB is based on wave equivalents of the passive elements and it is easily reconfigurable resulting in very simple and versatile FPAA structures. The proposed topology employs a minimum number of switches in the signal path due to the absence of the interconnection network required in other FPAA structures, and thus an improved performance is achieved in comparison with the already introduced corresponding programmable configurations.
