Subharmonic injection‐locking and self‐oscillating mixing functions of a modified Colpitts oscillator operating at 1 GHz are reported. The injection‐locking circuit, using a GaAs FET, is described theoretically and experimentally. Phase noise, power consumption and conversion gain measurements indicate that the proposed design is attractive for low‐cost, low‐power consumption front‐ends.
