Based on the theory of wave digital filters (WDFs), models are derived to simulate interconnection circuits. They contain lumped transmission line models and transmission line models derived from their partial differential equations (distributed models). Both kinds of models are implemented in the transmission line simulator ALWX in order to calculate the signal wave‐forms on transmission lines and the cross‐talk behaviour between them. Additional MOS transistor models extend the possible applications. Compared with other simulators, ALWX shows significant advantages in CPU time while producing results with high accuracy.
