This paper presents a new appoach based on the use of describing functions to obtain approximate symbolic expressions for the fundamental frequency component as well as for the second‐ and third‐order harmonics. A single soft or hard transconductance non‐linearity embedded in an arbitrary linear network is studied. Three examples are considered.
