Graph models play an important role in floor‐plan design. In this paper the relations between the various models are investigated. Useful graph‐theoretical facts are presented in this context, and their application is discussed. Special attention is given to the implications of structural restraints, for the models as well as for the applications, geometrical optimization and global routing in particular.
