The paper considers the state‐space synthesis of reciprocal n ‐ports with a minimum number of reactive elements. After formulating the synthesis problem new procedures are given for the lossless and for the passive cases which use a directly determinable reciprocal minimal realization as starting point. The methods are presented in terms of admittance matrices and then restated for impedance, hybrid and scattering matrix synthesis.
