A particularly simple modelling network is postulated in order to describe the operation of a cavity‐controlled transferred‐electron oscillator. The subsequent successful agreement with experimental oscillator behaviour lends support to the well known hypothesis that the fundamental power generating mechanisms of such devices are, in many cases, operating in a highly impulsive manner.
