Abstract A new concept for the construction of digital filters is presented. It is based on so‐called state filters recently suggested by the author. The new filter is compared with Fettweis' wave digital filters. Its multiplier coefficients need about 2 bits more, but it saves at least one multiplier and a considerable number of summers.
