The Cover Feature shows the effect of impurities (carbohydrates and their derivatives) on the hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) conversion of lignin to jet fuel hydrocarbons. The competitive adsorption of carbohydrates and their derivatives can block and/or deactivate the active sites of metal catalysts, resulting in significant negative effects on the lignin HDO process.
