A rapid and efficient process for the measurement of lignin content in the plant cell walls is reported. The described method can be used to analyze ball‐ or Wiley‐milled samples at a microscale via direct dissolution and 1 H NMR analysis of biomass using perdeuterated pyridinium chloride/[D 6 ]DMSO bisolvent system.
