The Transcendent Communication Project, originating in work on moral conflict in the 1980s, involves the search for methods to transform communication in difficult conflicts. Using several metaphors, this article explores the elements and pragmatics of dialogue in case studies: a multistakeholder rangeland policy group, the Vietnam dialogues, environmental conflict in a rural county, and a peacemaking institute in Indonesia.
