Single crystals of LiFe 5 O 8 and Y 3 Fe 5 O 12 are of considerable interest for microwave applications. These were grown by spontaneous crystallization from fluxed melts by slow cooling. The quality of the obtained crystals were analyzed by X‐ray diffraction and by measuring of the characteristic parameters (saturation magnetization σ s , Curie temperature T c , density D , hardness H v ). Although the both ferrites involve Fe 3+ as the only magnetic ions which are responsible for the magnetic properties of these ferrites, several essential differences are found attributing to the particularity of their crystalline structure.
