The d‐d transition spectrum of Ba[Co(HEDTA)H 2 O] 2 · 4H 2 O crystal was measured at room temperature and experimental results are explained quantitativley by using the ligand field theory and the radial wave function of non‐free Co(II) ion. The crystal structures and the electronic structures of M/Co‐EDTA (M=Ba, Sr, Ca, Mg) complexes are also discussed.
