The chemical vapour transport (CVT) of NiTiO 3 with SeCl 4 is reported. In addition to small NiTiO 3 crystals a more or less quantity of solid NiCl 2 is deposited in the deposition zone. At higher temperature gradients the solid which is deposited besides NiCl 2 is NiO. The transport behaviour is satisfactory explained using two thermodynamical models: the model of connected equilibrium states and the four‐stage model.
