Silicalite was treated in an alkaline solution of aluminate following Klinowski's instruction for ‘fine tuning’ of zeolitic catalysts. Instead of an isomorphous substitution of framework silicon by aluminium, a partial phase transformation of the silicate into an Al‐rich aluminosilicate gel was observed. A surface re‐alumination of residual crystals takes place.
