Abstract A new material (TMPD) 2 Ni(CN) 4 I 0.5 · H 2 O has been prepared (TMPD = N,N,N′,N′‐tetramethyl‐p‐phenylenediamine). The solution and mull absorption spectra in the infrared range indicate the presence of the redox process TMPD + ⇌ TMPD 2+ and tetracyanonickellate (IV) units.
