Application of a microcomputer control system to programme the dosage rate during a batch precipitation is described. The technique is tested with the drowning‐out precipitation of potassium sulphate from aqueous solution using acetone. Programmed dosage controls the transient supersaturation and crystal growth rate thereby improving the product crystal size distribution. A consequent improvement in filtrability characteristics is also indicated.
