The clustering of vacancies occurring during the isochronal and isothermal annealing treatments of a 40% cold‐worked nickel has been investigated through positron lifetime measurements. The observed variation in lifetime has been quantitatively understood by modelling the defect reactions amongst vacancies leading to the formation of vacancy clusters.
