Effective vacancy formation enthalpy ( H v ) for AgZn alloy was determined by means of positron annihilation method. It was found that H v decreases linearly with increasing Zn content for the α‐phase. For the ξ and β′‐phase the H v does not change and is equal to 0.53–0.55 eV.
