For the first time specific heats of the fcc solid solutions (Bi 2 O 3 ) 1− x (Er 2 O 3 ) x in the temperature range 350–1000 K were measured by means of Differental Scanning Calorimetry. Samples were also investigated with thermal expansion. A possibility of tetragonal distortion with subsequent transformation in δ* phase is supposed for (Bi 2 O 3 ) 0.80 (Er 2 O 3 ) 0.20 . Thermodynamic data on (Bi 2 O 3 ) 1− x (Er 2 O 3 ) x compared with ideal solutions are discussed.
