Specimens made of Armco iron were electroplated with cobalt and then boronized with 2.2 vol% BCl 3 in H 2 at 1223 K. The boride layers obtained show the sequence of crystallographic phases which is (Co, Fe)B, FeB, Fe 2 B, substrate material.
