The main kinetic parameters of the precipitation process of magnesium hydroxide from magnesium nitrate have been determined. By using gaseous ammonia as precipitation agent in a 20% stoichiometric excess and in a reactor residence period of 30–60 min we determined the total kinetic order of the process, which is 2.67. For a 50 min residence time, we determined the filtration and washing parameters for the magnesium hydroxide obtained from the beginning of the precipitation process till a stationary state was reached.
