The micro non‐homogeneity of SnTe samples obtained by a low‐temperature iodide method was studied by means of an X‐ray spectral microanalyser Cameca MS‐46. The composition of the microprecipitates was studied, as well as the possible causes for their formation in the process of obtaining the material. The paper shows the favourable prospects of using a SnI 2 solvent obtained in advance for synthesizing SnTe.
