A model is proposed for a non‐stationary process of diameter variation (growing out and narrowing) of the crystal, grown by the automated Czochralski technique, with the aim of obtaining the initial and final “cones” of any desired configuration. The calculations are illustrated by the experimentally grown lithium niobate crystals.
