In the present work the interface unstability of the solubility boundary in the gradient temperature zone melting method is considered for the case of large breach amplitude and great wave length. The critical value of the amplitude at which the breach begins to form as a drop in front of the solubility boundary is determined. It is assumed that the crystallization and the solubility processes are accomplished by the dislocational and normal mechanisms.
