A description of a simple model for calculations of diffusion mass transport rates for growing α‐HgI 2 crystals by sublimation in iodine vapour is presented. A satisfactory agreement with experiment was obtained. Incorporation of iodine into red mercuric iodide is estimated (2 · 10 −7 mole/cm 3 ).
