Experimental values of the complex dielectric permittivity in a wide frequency range are analized for the isotropic and nematic phase of BOHB. The results are discussed from the point of view of different of molecular reorientation mechanisms which are related to the structure of the molecule. It can be concluded that the molecules in the nematic phase exhibit a stronger tendency to reorient as “rigid bodies”.
