The production of CdGeP 2 through vapour transport was studied. Proceeding from thermodynamic observations on the possibility of Ge‐transport in the form of chloride an optimisation of the parameters in volved in the process was achieved through systematic variation of the transport conditions. The produced crystals were characterized through main component chemical analysis, microhardness measurements, microprobe analysis and X‐ray phase analysis.
