The InSb‐1.8 wt% NiSb eutectic alloys were directionally solidified using the vertical Bridgman‐type method, under the imposed temperature gradients from 15 to 150 °C/cm. The drive velocity of samples was 5 mm/h. Three kinds of the microstructure faults were observed: single‐phase growth bands, two‐phase growth bands and rapid changes in the needle spacing. The aligned structure free of growth bands was obtained in the sample for the imposed temperature gradient 150 °C/cm.
