Ten sapphire ribbons are grown simultaneously with prismatic orientation ( { 11 2 ¯ 0 } plane and ⟨ 1 ¯ 100 ⟩ direction) with the dimensions 2 × 85 × 400 mm. Block‐free ribbons grown steadily in a modernized thermal zone with an upgraded die design if using the edge‐defined film‐fed growth method. Simultaneous growth of a large number of ribbons from a single crucible raises the production efficiency of the technological process in a few times. Mechanical properties of multiple crystals are studied. The strength and plastic properties of inner ribbons are practically identical. Multiple sapphire ribbons may be used in optical devices without additional heat treatment. These crystals are used as windows operated in aggressive media, high pressures and temperatures, or as transparent armour. Morphology and distribution of gas inclusions in subsurface layer are investigated. This is reported by Elena F. Dolzhenkova and co‐workers in article number 1700258 .
