The textured porous Al 2 O 3 ceramics were prepared by slip casting in a strong magnetic field of 6 T and subsequently sintering. The c axis of Al 2 O 3 grain was oriented parallel to the direction of the magnetic field and the textured porous microstructure with plate‐shape grains was formed. The porosity of textured porous Al 2 O 3 ceramic was 30.37% and the relative density reached 66.29% when the sintering temperature is 1600°C. The textured porous Al 2 O 3 green body showed the linear shrinkage anisotropy. The bending strength of the textured porous Al 2 O 3 ceramics depended on the alignment direction of plate‐shape grains.
