The famous theory of J ACKSON and H UNT for the unidirectional eutectic solidification is extended considering the effect of the solidification rate on the interfacial solute concentration. Contributions attributed to nonsymmetric phase diagrams lead to corrections of the constant K in the λ 2 V = K relation between the lamellar half‐spacing λ and the solidification rate V . For high solidification rates deviations from this relation are derived.
