The plastic deformation behaviour of the intermetallic phase V 3 Si (Cr 3 Si type) was investigated under dynamic conditions. The experiments revealed that V 3 Si deforms plastically at a strain rate of about 4.7 × 10 −5 s −1 above 1200°. Flow stress depends strongly on deformation temperature and strain rate. An alloy hardening by deviation from stoichiometric composition within the range of homogeneity is observed.
