Some XPS‐spectra (core levels and valence bands) of Ti supported active layers (Pt 0.7 Ir 0.3 ) on various catalytic activity were investigated. Not only the mentioned species were studied but also the impurity elements oxygen and carbon. All data given below are dependent on the information depth (maximum ∼ 13 nm). The various reactivity can be described quantitatively as well as qualitatively by XPS data. Concerning this the relative change of composition in the surface region is very important.
