Growth of NiMoO 4 crystals by gel method has been described. By manipulating the condition of growth parameters, crystals of fairly large dimensions have been obtained at ambient temperature. The crystal faces are examined by optical and scanning electron microscopy and thus a two‐dimensional layer growth mechanism for the development of the faces have been proposed.
