The thermal expansion of anthracene plates cut along the cleavage plane and having different crystalographic orientations was studied by means of a quartz dilatometer. The expansion tensor cross‐section in cleavage plane has been determined. It is shown that there is a correlation between the compressibility tensor orientation and the thermal expansion.
