Process of kinking in CsI crystals has been studied with help of CLC (cholesteric liquid crystals) sensitive to deformation and temperature. It is shown that kinking formation is accompanied by local heat in the kink band. The velocity of deformation is the more the larger the quantity of heat in the kink band.
