Basing on polarizabilities of fluorene molecule, derived from refractive indices of the crystal, the temperature dependence of birefringence for (010) crystal plates has been discussed. It was shown that two factors contribute in the overall effect: change of density of the crystal due to thermal expansion, and a change of orientation of molecular LMN axes.
