Age hardenable martensitic Iron—Manganese—Nickel alloys were neutronographically investigated in order to explain the age hardening effect occurring during the heat treatment. The formation of coherent precipitations of an ordering phase within the matrix proved to be the reason for the occurring hardness increase.
