Not only for perfect but also for imperfect crystals transmission rocking curves show tails with a light‐dark asymmetry outside an interference maximum which result from anomalous absorption in both cases. The analysis of the tails provides a quantitative statement on the anomalous absorption coefficient of the dynamical theory of X‐ray diffraction. Measurements taken on Ge, LiF, and FeAl are discussed.
