The precipitation and dissolution processes in dilute Al‐Si alloys were investigated after cold work and quenching by resistivity measurements. The effect of the cooling rate after annealing also was studied. It is shown that after a suitable heat treatment the solubility curve and the heat of solution can be determined using a single sample. Experimental proof is given that there is no homogeneous nucleation in these alloys.
