Cover : Due to its hydrophobicity, the skin presents a unique challenge for immunohistochemical labeling. In this issue, Pomaville and Wright present a series of protocols for comprehensive immunohistological labeling of sensory neurons in mammalian skin. The combination of broad immunohistological labeling with genetic recombination‐driven labeling allows for many new avenues of exploration into the development and organization of skin innervating neurons. The cover image shows the receptive field and follicle innervating end organs of an isolated follicle innervating an Aδ‐LTMR sensory neuron (white), and immunofluorescent labeling with a pan‐neuronal marker (Tuj1, depth coded gradient, warmer colors indicate more superficial structures) in postnatal day 21 mouse back skin.
