As this issue went to press, America was grappling with two epidemics — opioid overdoses and COVID‐19. We have already written about the growth of telepsychiatry, including for youth (see CPU , May 2020). Requiring in‐person visits is contraindicated by social distancing recommendations. And expanding treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) as much as possible is viewed as one of the most important ways to cut back on overdose deaths. Authorities are trying to get out of the way of treating both epidemics.
