Young people with opioid use disorder should be prescribed medication, the American Academy of Pediatrics has stated. Buprenorphine can be prescribed down to age 16. But even in New York City, finding a buprenorphine prescriber can be difficult. The Family Health Centers at NYU Langone have developed a “warmline” to expand its buprenorphine program into Brooklyn, one of the five boroughs of the city (NYU Langone itself is a large academic medical center and hospital based in Manhattan).
