Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) increase the probability of developing an alcohol use disorder (AUD), George F. Koob, Ph.D., director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), told CPU last month. He also discussed challenges to work on medications to treat AUDs.
