The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) has been the law of the land for almost 10 years. But few researchers have examined the effects of the law on children with high mental health and substance use disorder expenditures. In last month's issue of Pediatrics , researchers report that the parity law did reduce out‐of‐pocket costs for families of children with high mental health expenditures, but not enough.
