An expert in substance use disorders and pregnancy, and co‐author of a journal article on the implications of marijuana use during pregnancy, observes numerous inconsistencies in the way health care professionals and policymakers address this increasingly sensitive topic. In an interview with CPU , Virginia Commonwealth University professor Mishka Terplan, M.D., M.P.H., said providers who work with pregnant women offer their patients limited information about risks for a number of reasons, including ignorance about the existence of what is actually a significant body of research.
