Many school‐age children and adolescents with mental health problems don't receive appropriate help, partly because pediatricians are uncomfortable diagnosing mental health conditions. That discomfort is due to lack of training, so in New York state, Project TEACH (Training and Education for the Advancement of Children's Health) was developed to help pediatric primary care providers (PCPs) learn how to identify and treat mental health conditions. Researchers conducted a study to see how well the training program is working.
